Delozier to Host Car Seat Safety Check

Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) will host a car seat safety check from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 6, at L.B. Smith Ford Lincoln Mercury, located at 1100 Market St. in Lemoyne. Local law enforcement will be on hand to ensure that child safety seats are properly secured in vehicles. Parents and caregivers also will be instructed on the correct installation procedures.

Delozier noted that Pennsylvania law requires all children under the age of 4 to be fastened in a car seat while riding in a vehicle.  Children ages 4 through 7 must be in an approved booster seat when riding in a vehicle.

“All of us want to keep Pennsylvania's children safe.  As a parent, I am very familiar with how hard it is to get the car seat in the right way," said Delozier.  “Therefore, I was not surprised to learn that, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 75 percent of car seats on the road today are installed incorrectly.  I decided to hold this event to help parents, grandparents and care givers, learn the correct way to install a child's car seat.”
