Wolf Launched Partisan Insults Instead of a Budget Address, Delozier Says
2/9/2016
HARRISBURG – Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) today expressed disappointment in Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2016-17 budget address, which she said did not include the truth about his proposal to raise taxes on Pennsylvania families. She issued the following statement in response to the governor’s address:

“The governor was expected to share details of his 2016-17 budget proposal with members of the House and Senate today, and instead, we received a patronizing lecture about how we should do our jobs, amid partisan insults and campaign talking points. He used the address as another opportunity to pit Democrats against Republicans, instead of focusing on the people who elected him. I wish Gov. Wolf would realize that the reason his tax hikes were rejected by the General Assembly is because we are doing our jobs and listening to the hard-pressed citizens in our districts who do not want more money taken from their paychecks.

“The governor neglected to be fully transparent with the taxpayers of Pennsylvania in his budget address today. He did not mention that his latest proposal includes a $3.6 billion tax hike, which would raise the Personal Income Tax by 11 percent, expand the sales tax and even tax your homeowners’ insurance. It’s unfortunate that Gov. Wolf continues to mislead Pennsylvania families by failing to provide full details of his budget in a public forum.

“My House colleagues and I have been focused on fixing the governor’s vetoes to get dollars to the people hurt by his cuts. We have been here and will continue to be here, ready to work together on a reasonable budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year. We are hopeful the governor can begin to realize that his proposal is not a done deal — that in order to achieve a responsible budget for the people of Pennsylvania, we must put aside the partisan insults and work together. A responsible budget would require us to spend only what we have, not go back to the taxpayers to ask for more.”
