Delozier: Grants Awarded for Multiple District Projects
10/22/2024
HARRISBURG –Grant funding totaling $3 million has been awarded to community development projects in the 88th Legislative District under the state’s competitive Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facilities Improvement Grant (PSFIG) programs, according to Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland).
“The LSA and PSFIG programs support a wide range of community projects,” said Delozier. “These state grants provide significant savings to municipalities and school districts while facilitating needed community improvements and other key revitalization efforts that benefit residents.
“LSA grants are funded by state gaming revenue. I was pleased to advocate for these dollars to be invested locally, and I am grateful the following projects received funding. I was glad to work with the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) on these important projects. I was also glad to support and advocate for our public schools by securing awards that cover project expenses for Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technology Center and Mechanicsburg Area Middle School. These grant awards will have a positive impact on our schools and our communities and all who call them home for generations to come.”
The 88th Legislative District LSA awards are as follows:
• New Cumberland Borough, $575,000 for the Link 4 Youth, formerly known as Medard’s House, to construct a new skatepark.
• Lower Allen Township, $457,466 for the Peyton Walker Foundation to purchase 300 new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for distribution to its volunteers.
• Mechanicsburg Borough, $500,000 for the Downtown Mechanicsburg Partnership to revitalize the borough’s center square. This grant will be used for construction and engineering costs.
• Greenlight Operation, $148,225 to purchase vehicles that will be used to transport victims to health appointments and work opportunities.
The 88th Legislative District’s PSFIG awards are as follows:
• Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technology Center, $330,000 to replace its HVAC pneumatic controls system. PSFIG funds will be used for purchasing new equipment and installation.
• Mechanicsburg Area Middle School, $1 million to replace and improve its HVAC cooling system. PSFIG funds will be used for construction, engineering and administrative costs.
The funding for these projects was approved by the CFA. CFA is an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
