| Upcoming Event in the 88th District |
Car Seat Safety Check
My annual car seat safety check is set for Thursday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m., at L.B. Smith Ford Lincoln, 1100 Market St., Lemoyne. Local law enforcement will be on hand to ensure that child safety seats are properly secured in vehicles. Parents and caregivers also will be instructed on the correct installation procedures. • On Saturday, I spoke at the second annual Veterans’ Gathering at the Mechanicsburg Picnic Grounds, hosted by the Veterans Appreciation Committee. The event thanked all veterans who served. The special guest was Ray Wallace, 82, of the Airborne 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was a prisoner of war and D-Day survivor. Thank you to all our veterans for your service!
• I met with Upper Allen Township’s commissioners on Wednesday to provide a legislative update. We talked about a number of legislative issues, including the state budget.
• Fifth-grade students from Rossmoyne and Highland elementary schools held their T.E.A.M. Graduation this week. The Teaching, Educating And Mentoring (T.E.A.M.) School Liaison Program is a school-based, law-related curriculum. The officers who teach these classes have received 40 hours of training that introduced them to more than 30 lesson plans on various topics such as bullying and safety. Thank you to Lower Allen police who assist with this program.
• Leadership Cumberland County held its annual session on service in the public sector. I spoke to the fellows about public sector leadership and volunteerism. The program develops individuals to become effective leaders in the workplace and community.
• The Mechanicsburg Rotary assisted at New Hope Ministries bagging pretzels and coffee for its clients. Many hands make light work. What a great team effort!
